U.S. Postal Service to cut 120,000 jobs if Congress approves.

The United States Postal Service is preparing to lay off 20 percent of its employees in the next four years.  This measure, however, can only be done if being relieved of union contracts that disallow massive layoffs. 

The Postal Service is about to report a $9 billion loss for this fiscal year ending on the last day of September 2011.  With this record-breaking loss, the Postal Service intends to get rid of 220,000 jobs and attempt to quit paying federal health and employee pension programs that currently are given to employees. 

Cuts of up to 100,000 in hires and 120,000 layoffs are desired if only the Congress will allow the Postal Service to get out of their contracts with the union.
